Hi, I am Julia Weis. I love doing digital and canvas charcoal art. I have loved drawing since I was a little girl. My parents raised me to see the beauty and potential in everything around me. I had an excellent art teacher in elementary school and learned the basics there. Then after I graduated high school, marriage, and my family took priority. I am a mother to five children, and I have been married to my husband for 20 years. As my children have grown older and more independent, I have found more time to work on the things that are enriching to me personally. I love music and the violin, dancing, and doing home projects. What I always come back to as my favorite though, is art and drawing. In 2018, I decided to go back to school at 38 years old. I completed the BYU Pathways program in 2019 and then I started classes at BYU-Idaho in 2020 for their online program. I have been studying for a bachelor's degree in Marriage and Family Sciences and received my first certificate for “Marriage, Family and Human Relations” in 2022. In 2021 I began taking a class weekly for drawing with Paper Plane Learning and I started doing digital artwork on Adobe Fresco. Then in January of 2023, I started learning under a mentor for charcoal drawings and fell in love with charcoal on canvas. I spend my time learning techniques from other artists and studying new skills through videos and other online courses. I draw daily and always have a project on which I am working. My goal as an artist is to capture the light and beauty of the subjects I choose. There is beauty in everything in this world and I hope to create work that is uplifting to others. I have a testimony of my savior Jesus Christ and I love to portray that testimony in my artwork by showing that he lives by all the love that shines in nature and his children. My favorite part of drawing is capturing all the minute details that make a picture whole. Each stroke of hair or wrinkle is important in our creation, so I love to put as much of that as possible in my work too.
